How to Fix a Leaking Shower Faucet
Have you ever had a leaking shower faucet? It can be quite annoying to hear the pitter patter of drops dripping into your tub. It can also be taxing on your bills if its leaking hot water (which mine was) It was soon at the point where it became a steady stream that was leaking out of my faucet. I watched in horror as money literally went down the drain. I put it off fixing it long enough, plus our poor hot water heater was getting a workout.
It can be nerve racking if you have never tried this DIY project before, but it is really rewarding. Not only does it save you money from hiring a plumber, but it gives you a sense of accomplishment to tackle a small job all by yourself.
The only tools that I used for the job was an allen wrench, that I cut off at the elbow so I could fit it into my drill, a pipe wrench, and some plumbers grease. Simple enough, right?
Even if you don't have the same type of faucet I do, please do not let this intimidate you. I encourage you to rip out that leaking faucet handle and take it to your local Lowes or Home Depot. They will have an entire display of O-ring kits and replacement parts for most any brand of faucet that you will have.
